NEWBURG, Md. (ABC7) — Maryland State Police are currently investigating a fatal collision that left one person dead and another injured early Saturday morning in Charles County.
At approximately 12:42 a.m., Maryland State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles southbound on Route 301 in the area of Route 234 in Newburg.
A preliminary investigation conducted by MSP indicated that a 1995 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 301. At the same time, a 2017 Honda Civic was traveling in the same lane going southbound.
The driver of the Ford F-150 collided head-on with the Honda Civic. After the crash, the Ford F-150 overturned and came to rest on it's roof.
The driver of the Ford F-150 was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Honda Civic, 22-year-old Krystal Danielal-Lyn Lewis, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The deceased victim, the driver of the Ford F-150, has not yet been identified. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.
