One driver is dead and the other is in serious condition after their pickup trucks crashed in Aspen Hill early Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

Montgomery County Police say they were called to the scene of the crash on Georgia Avenue between Aspen Road and Hewitt Avenue at around 1:49 a.m.

There officers say they found Israel A. Vasquez Bonilla, 50, and Mario Adalberto Montoya Flores, 28, of Gaithersburg.

The two men were taken to Suburban Hospital where Flores died from his injuries, police say. Officials say Bonilla's injuries were non-life threatening and ABC7's John Gonzalez reports he is in stable condition.

Authorities say the collision was the result of the Flores's Nissan Frontier crashing into Bonilla's Toyota Tacoma while Bonilla was trying to turn left onto Georgia Avenue from Hewitt Avenue. Police say Flores was going north on Georgia Avenue while Bonilla was attempting to go south.

Gonzalez reported that one of the trucks took so much damage in the crash that it was difficult to make out what model it was. The force of the crash apparently also knocked down an overhead traffic light.

Georgia Avenue was closed going north at Verona Drive and going south at Aspen Hill Road as police responded to the scene. All lanes have since reopened.

The crash is still under investigation.
