Plan to close DC General homeless shelter could play role in delivering Amazon to area
WASHINGTON (WJLA) —
A council hearing on the DC General homeless shelter was held Wednesday.
Witnesses at the hearing accused Mayor Muriel Bowser of rushing to close the shelter ahead of schedule to offer the land to Amazon for its new headquarters.
Some complained that a plan to tear down the building near the shelter could put children's health at risk.
