With the Washington Capitals in the Stanley Cup Final, ABC7 has learned that Alex Ovechkin has been eating a certain meal before every home game for nearly a decade. And now fans can order the same meal.

Patrons at Mamma Lucia in downtown Bethesda were star-struck when Ovechkin and his wife entered the restaurant in March.

“I knew who it was the second he walked through that door,” says David Kottler, Mamma Lucia’s general manager.

Ovi ordered his usual, chicken parm, plain spaghetti, bread and four sauces, alfredo, meat, tomato, and mushroom marsala. The Great 8’s favorite.

"My guys know what he wants and know exactly how to prepare it,” Kottler says.

Mamma Lucia's has been delivering that very meal to Ovechkin on home game days for nearly a decade.

And delivery man Mike Trilling is behind the wheel on every delivery.

Mamma Lucia, which has six locations in Maryland, now offers the "Ovi Special" on all game days.

It includes a chicken parm dinner, salad and large pizza for $25. Dine-in, carry out, or delivery.

Framed articles now hang in the dining room and the family-owned business is honored to be Ovi's go to grub.

“Proud of Mamma Lucia’s for being the one bringing him his 11 o'clock after morning skate meal,” Kottler says. “It's pretty neat.”
