Twenty-seven-year-old Seth Rich was shot and killed on a Sunday in July in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of Washington, DC. Eight months later still no arrest and now GOP Lobbyist Jack Burkman and a team of private investigators want to take a crack at solving it.

Jack Burkman says "I don't know how you can call this a robbery. Shot twice in the back. Gold chain around his neck. Watch, wallet no money taken. No credit cards taken."

It's an independent probe which Rich's family have no part in.

So far $130,000 being offered in reward money and Seth Rich's face all over the neighborhood hasn't solved this murder so ABC7 News wants to know how can a group of private investigators make a difference?

Security expert Kevin Doherty who is a member of the team looking into the murder of Seth Rich says "We are going to look at link analysis. We are going to try and establish a timeline. We are going to see if there were individuals who may have been missed."

The team includes a forensic physiologist, a security specialist and George Washington grad students.

Burkman says his claim a former U.S. Intelligence Officer told him the Russian's had something to do with Rich's murder will continue to be investigated even though police and Rich's family aren't buying it.

Burkman adds "We are being approached by others that are confirming part of story of our source regarding the Russian angle."

The new team of investigators will be working out of the new Seth Rich Center for Investigations just opening in Arlington, Virginia.

D.C. Police say they have no update on the case but tell the I-Team they will continue to investigate until this murder case is closed.
