A photo of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson hangs steps away from the courtyard where she was shot and killed Monday.

On Wednesday, Makiyah's mother Donetta Wilson stood before a makeshift memorial barely able to speak as she talked about her daughter and her final moments.

"She was only 10," Donetta Wilson cried. "My baby can’t live and see her life. She wanted to do stuff.”

After finding the gunmens’ Infinity, the manhunt continues, leaving family members desperate for justice.

Ward 7 retiring ANC Commissioner Benjamin Thomas is noticing a disturbing pattern. Makiyah is the second child under the age of 12 shot in less than two weeks in the area.

On July 4th, an 11-year-old girl was also injured in a shooting. She is expected to survive.

"My wife scared to even come out here, when she is getting ready to go somewhere I got to go with her," said Thomas.
