Authorities say they are investigating a social media threat made against a middle school and high school in Montgomery County.

Westland Middle School Principal Alison Serino sent out an email to parents Friday morning informing them that Montgomery County Police were investigating a threat made by a graduate of Montgomery County Public Schools. Serino says the threat was directed at Westland Middle and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.

Serino says the school resource officers, security and staff at both schools "will continue to be vigilant about addressing any social media posts that could be disruptive to our learning environment."

Those with information on this incident or other concerning social media posts are asked to contact authorities.
