WASHINGTON (ABC7) — One of the passengers from Monday's derailed Metro train says he walked 1,900 feet through the tunnel with glow sticks after being rescued by authorities.
"We're sitting there and all of a sudden we're all bouncing up and down the track," the man said describing the Red Line derailment between Farragut North and the Metro Center.
There were 60 passengers on the train but authorities say no one was injured.
"I looked out the window and you could see smoke and dust and everything flying," the man said.
The D.C. Fire Department says they got everyone on the train out safely through well-lite areas and added that the tunnel was warmer that the streets outside.
The passenger ABC7 talked to seemed unfazed by the event.
"It happens," he said, adding that he would have to get back on another Metro train to get to work.
