Md. man charged for allegedly stabbing girlfriend, taking his kids ages 9, 18-months-old

A 35-year-old man has been charged for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend during a domestic dispute, and abducting his 9-year-old son and 18-month-old daughter leading to an Amber Alert being issued on Tuesday.

Dwight Perry, of Gaithersburg, is charged with one count of first-degree assault and one account of second-degree assault. He is being held without bond, according to Montgomery County Police.

Perry's girlfriend was stabbed in the lower back with a knife during a dispute, and he left the area with his kids in his car.

An Amber Alert was issued for the missing children. Investigators say after seeing the alert, Perry stopped at a Prince George's County fire station and turned himself into police.

Both children were not with Perry when he surrendered to the cops. But he told them where they were located.

Officers found the children safe and unharmed in Prince George's County. According to authorities, one child was at a daycare center and the other kid was at a family member's home.

According to police, the woman said he assaulted her prior to the stabbing. She woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at an area hospital.
