Man threatened to murder Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris and gun control rally marchers

Nicholas Edward Bukoski (Anne Arundel County Police Department)

A Maryland man is behind bars Wednesday while he faces federal charges for reportedly threatening to kill Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Kamala Harris and March For Our Lives participants.

According to the New York Times, 19-year-old Nicholas Edward Bukoski, of Anne Arundel County, is facing five felony counts — two for the threats against Sanders and Harris and three more for transmitting threats via interstate commerce.

The indictment, which the New York Times reports was returned on April 11 but was released Wednesday, says Bukoski allegedly sent Instagram messages to the offices of Sanders and Harris on March 24, which is the same day the March For Our Lives was held in Washington, D.C. Bukoski also sent text messages to the Metropolitan Police Department tip line.

The messages led police to Bukoski's home, reports say, in which he was taken to the Anne Arundel Medical Center for an immediate mental evaluation.

The New York Times reports Bukoski said "he was frustrated with liberals and very supportive of the current president."

On Wednesday, Bukoski appeared in United States District Court for the District of Columbia and will remain in federal custody.
