Organizers for the "March For Our Lives" rally have submitted a permit application for a March 24 demonstration in D.C. and are estimating half a million people to attend, ABC7 News' Victoria Sanchez reported Tuesday.

The gun reform march was announced by survivors in the wake of the Florida high school shooting that left 17 dead in Parkland last week.

Cameron Kasky, a junior at the school, said the March 24 march will provide a time to talk about gun control, saying "we are losing our lives while the adults are playing around."

In addition to D.C., March for our Lives is planned for cities across the country.

On Monday, D.C. teenagers staged a lie-in in front of the White House to stand with the victims and to call for gun reform.
