Man shot, killed in Northeast D.C.; homicide count now at 121
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
A 27-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Northeast Washington.
D.C. police said Wilbert Brooks, of Northeast, was fatally shot around 12:13 a.m. in the 1500 block of Benning Road, NE.
When officers arrived after a report of gunshots, they found Brooks suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and pronounced him dead.
The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The homicide count is now up to 121 for the year after just 84 such deaths last year. Another man, the 120th homicide, was killed Saturday night in Southeast.
