Police have charged a man with human trafficking after he allegedly enticed a 16-year-old runaway girl to come with him to a Frederick hotel to engage in prostitution.

Frederick Police responded to a report of a possible abduction in the in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street Saturday afternoon. The suspect and the victim remained at the scene when police arrived. Investigators determined that it was a case of human trafficking, not an abduction, police say.

The man and the Prince George’s County girl already knew each other, police say. After the girl was taken to a hospital for evaluation, she was released to her parents.

Abiathar Abraham Vance, 39, has been charged with three counts of human trafficking.
