It's still winter, but many parents have already signed their kids up for spring sports, which start in March and April.

7News' Adrianna Hopkins talked to a primary care sports medicine physician who said even though the season may not start for a few more weeks or months, your kids need to start conditioning now to reduce their risk of injury.

"Whether they've not been very active or played a winter sport, spring sports may have different demands on their body," Dr. Keyur Desai said.

"Let’s say you’ve been playing sports and you’ve had some sort of nagging injury or something that bothered you previously, now is the time to get that evaluated so that it’s less symptomatic currently when you’re not in your season, but as you go towards the activity you don’t want it to flare up and then derail you in the middle of your season," Desai said.
