Rescue crews on standby as flood risk to continue through Saturday across D.C. area (ABC7)

Rescue teams across the area are on standby as the risk of flooding will continue into Saturday.

With so much rain already on the ground and more on the way, Montgomery County Fire recommends homeowners prepare for possible flooding.

Spokesman Pete Piringer says it’s a good idea for homeowners to make sure any drains around their home are clear of debris, and to also make sure basement windows are secure.

He recommends having an emergency plan and making sure you have working flashlights with fresh batteries.

He also says the old phrase “turn around, don’t drown” will be especially important Friday and over the weekend, as many roads are expected to see flooding.
