Fire at Maryland UPS center destroys 10 packaging trucks and a number of holiday presents
FREDERICK, Md. (WJLA) - Ten UPS trucks, a trailer and several holiday presents were destroyed in a fire at a facility in Frederick that started late Monday night, according to authorities.
The Frederick Fire Department says they were called to the UPS Center at 6766 English Muffin Way at around 11:21 p.m. The fire started at about 10:30 p.m. and was discovered by an employee during a shift change.
No injuries have been reported but the blaze caused damage to the center in addition to destroying the vehicles and damaging the packages the trailer was carrying.
The trailer and the packages were engulfed in flames while parked inside a loading dock, according to fire officials.
The facility's sprinkler system did go off and helped stop the fire from doing more damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and employees are trying to salvage what they can.
