WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A fire broke out at an occupied 3-story apartment building in Southeast DC Wednesday afternoon, displacing nine residents.
As firefighters arrived flames were coming from a door on the first floor in the building in the 2700 block of Langston Place SE, according to tweets from DC Fire and EMS.
The fire was quickly knocked down and under control. No injuries have been reported.
The Red Cross has been asked to assist the displaced residents.
Investigators say the blaze was accidental, resulting from the failure of an appliance.
