US Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Paul Hasson faces gun and drug charges. But federal officials say those charges are the “proverbial tip of the iceberg.”

In fact, they are calling Hasson a domestic terrorist and believe he was plotting violence against high profile journalists and DC based politicians.

Authorities arrested the 49-year-old. In court documents, they wrote “the defendant intends to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country.”

They recently found a cache of firearms and ammo in his Silver Spring apartment. Investigators allege the admitted white nationalist had been gathering supplies for years in hopes of carrying out violence that would lead to a white homeland.

Hasson served in the Marines and Army National Guard and was stationed at the US Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Authorities say in a 2017 draft email he wrote, “I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth.” His ideas, according to his own writings, included bombings, sniper and biological attacks.

He’s quoted as writing “Liberalist/globalist ideology is destroying traditional people esp white. No way to counteract without violence.”

They say Hasson recently compiled a list of prominent Democratic congressional leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, along with media personalities they suspect Hasson had an interest in targeting.

The suspect’s next court appearance is Feb. 21 in federal court in Greenbelt.
