MITCHELLVILLE, Md. (7News) — There is a new and improved golf course in Maryland and it’s not on the Eastern shore or in Montgomery County, it is here in Mitchellville.

The 18-hole course opened in 1976 and is built on a historic property that was formerly the old Newton White Dairy Farm. Features include an 18-hole, par 72, and championship course. Rolling fairways, natural scenery, and year-round access.
“Our mission is to help our residents in the county to live more and play more. And what better way to do that than with a friendly game of golf with your friends and loved ones. So it’s been an enormous undertaking, we’ve already seen fantastic results”, said Angel Waldron, Spokesperson for the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County.
County leaders say more importantly it’s another option for the youth in the area and a place that residents can be proud to call their own.
Prince George‘s County is offering several junior golf programs here to get children off the streets and on the greens.
“We know how important it is to keep our youth involved and safe. Productive and healthy activity that they can participate in, develop their social skills, develop their athletic skills. We also have lots of golf classes for those who are beginners and want to learn this sport which is special to many of us here in the county”, said Waldron.
For adults, you can join a league such as the Thursday morning ladies league which has proven to be very popular already.
