Election 2018 for D.C., Maryland, Virginia, what you need to know
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6 as voters prepare to cast their ballots in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Here's what you need to know before heading to the polls.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The deadline to register to vote and for updating your voter registration record by mail, online, or through the Board's mobile app, Vote 4 DC, has passed, according to vote4dc.com.
Any applications submitted in this way won't be processed until after Election Day.
According to vote4dc.com, people can still register/update your registration before the start of voting at the D.C. Board of Elections located at 1015 Half Street SE, Suite 750 in Washington, D.C.
Polls will be open at 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In Virginia, active-duty uniformed-service voters (including qualifying spouses ans dependents) and voters living overseas temporarily can register to vote or update their voter registration by mail until the seventh day before the election by 5 p.m. for the next election on Nov. 6, 2018.
Active-duty uniformed-service voters (including qualifying spouses and dependents) and votes living overseas temporarily may also register to vote or update their voter registration in person up to and including Election Day in their local general registrar's office, according to elections.virginia.gov.
Casting a ballot-polling places are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m on Election Day, but anyone in line waiting to vote will be allowed to vote.
Voters can look up their polling places or they can call their General Registrar for additional information.
Voting polls in Maryland open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be two Constitutional Amendments that will appear statewide on general election ballots, according to elections.maryland.gov.
The Maryland State Board of Election has information on voter registration and where to find your specific polling places on its website.
Absentee ballots must be mailed (postmarked) on or before Election Day.
The deadline for ballots to be submitted to your location election office is 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2018.
