3.0 earthquake reported in West Va.

Earthquake hits West Virginia (ABC7 photo)

A 3.0 earthquake on the West Virginia and Virginia border rattled some homes and nerves of those in the area Sunday evening.

The earthquake occurred about two miles from Bolivar, West Virginia, according to Quake Reports.

Residents in the area said they experienced some violent shaking, but only for a few seconds. There were no reports of significant damage.

  • NW of Leesburg, Virginia (14 mi)
  • WSW of Ballenger Creek, Maryland (17 mi)
