Richard Montgomery High School physics teacher Melissa Rooney reworked the lyrics to Journey’s hit 1981 song, Don’t Stop Believin’, bringing cheer to her students.

Rooney posted the 4 minute, 21-second video to YouTube on April 15. It has since attracted more than 300 views. Rooney's version of the 80s tune is titled, Don't Stop Achievin' - Distance Learning Expectations.

“Just a MoCo girl, teaching in a virtual world," Rooney begins in her parody music video, which includes clips of her playing an electric piano, riding a virtual rollercoaster backward, and Irish dancing.

At the end of the song, Rooney wishes her students well and offers leniency if they are feeling academic deadline pressure.

"I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and staying safe! If you need an extension on an assignment please ask!" Rooney wrote in on-screen text.

The rolling credits list Rooney as the song's singer, piano player, lyrics writer, and editor. The production company is, quite cleverly, registered as "Rooney Records."

Rooney used iMovie for the video editing, Audacity for the audio editing, and gathered images from Zoom and myMCPS Classroom.
