WASHINGTON (WJLA) — WJLA News caught up with former President Donald Trump at the LIV Golf Tournament, which is being held at Trump National Golf Club in Loudoun County, Virginia
Rumors were already circulating that the former president was expected to attend and participate in the tournament.
So while WJLA covered the golf tournament Friday, sports anchor Scott Abraham spotted Trump putting nearby and asked him a few questions about the tournament and his thoughts on the 2024 presidential election.
This year's LIV Golf Tournament came with many controversies. But the former president still expressed excitement for the event and the golfers in attendance.

"It's a fantastic thing and it has been a really well-received course. It's a great course. The best course. I think easily, easily in this Tri-State area, very easily, something we've enjoyed doing and creating, and LIV is here, and we have the best golfers in the world," said Trump.
Trump added that he hopes the tournament continues at his beloved golf course and that he believes it is the best location.
"We have a couple-year contract, I think. It's been very well received. The players love it. It's big, it's along the Potomac ...," said Trump.
Then we spoke to him about the obvious: his thoughts on his chances in the 2024 presidential election. Trump said that he expects to lead after he said he reviewed the latest polls Friday.
"I think we are going to win. We just got polls out today, we're up by 40 and 50 points, and we're leading Biden by 11 and 12 points, and so I think we're going to do well," said Trump. "Look, the country is on the wrong path. I don't think we've ever been in a position like this. It's a very dangerous time for our country... we just don't know what we're doing."
Trump added, "Well, I think a lot of them know, based on the polls, seem to like the job I did very much. I gave the biggest task cuts in history, the biggest regulation cuts in history, we didn't fight wars, we got out of wars. We beat ISIS, we did everything... we rebuilt our military, if you take a look at Space Force and how well that's done and how important that's been. We did so many things, we had the strongest border in the history of our country, and that's a big thing right now. No inflation. We had the best economy we've ever had, nobody can compete with that ... ."
