WASHINGTON (ABC7) — The D.C. Medical Examiners Office said it is having trouble determining exactly what killed a Russian Billionaire.
Mikhail Lesin was found dead in a luxury suite at the Dupont Circle Hotel on November 5, 2015. The National Association of Medical Examiners states 90 percent of death investigations should conclude within 90 days. It only takes longer when determining a cause of death that poses a challenge.
Lesin's death sparked theories of conspiracy and murder abroad. Lesin is a former associate of president Vladimir Putin. He is a bureaucrat who amassed a multi-billion dollar fortune. Some in Russia speculate Lesin was murdered for getting to cozy with U.S. Intelligence.
The Medical Examiners Office said it will continue to investigate what caused Lesin's death.
