Homicide investigation underway after woman's body found outside of Rockville church
ROCKVILLE, Md. (ABC7) — Montgomery County Police are investigating after a woman's body was found outside a church in Rockville Friday evening.
Police say officers found the woman suffering from trauma to her upper body in the 1500 block of Dunster Road, outside of St. Raphael Catholic Church, after receiving a report at 6 p.m.
Police say the woman died at the scene.
Now, detectives are working to confirm the woman's identity and notify next of kin.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of the woman's death.
St. Raphael School released the following statement in connection to the investigation on their Facebook page. Read it in full below:
"We are aware of the news reports about a fatal stabbing outside the front entrance of St. Raphael’s and are monitoring the situation. There were no school-related activities happening at the campus this evening. Principal Teri Dwyer has notified parents and staff and will follow up with more information as it becomes known. In the meantime, please keep the victim and her family in your prayers. #WeAreStRaphael"
