WASHINGTON (7News) — Four months after he was found guilty of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend,a Washington D.C. man was sentenced to 30 years in prison, announced U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Chief Pamela Smith, of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
Marcus Walker, 24, was living in the living room of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment when the crime occurred onOctober 11, 2022, according to the evidence presented at his trial.

Walker became upset that his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, Erik King, were in the bedroom of the apartment. Walker sent his ex-girlfriend aggressive text messages for approximately an hour.
Then, Walker burst through the locked bedroom door and shot King three times— twice in the chest and once in thegroin. King died on the scene.
A six-year-old child was present in the bedroom when the shots were fired.

A Superior Court Jury found Walker guiltyof second-degree murder while armed, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, as well as second-degree cruelty to children, three counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.
