DC firefighters rescue residents from heavily burning apartment in Southeast
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
D.C. firefighters rescued residents from a serious apartment fire early Friday that sent two civilians and a firefighter to the hospital, according to authorities.
The D.C. Fire Department says they responded to a 2-Alarm fire at a three-story apartment building in the 1300 block Alabama Avenue, SE sometime after midnight.
Fire officials say the building was about half-full and their crews helped evacuated people using ladders. The fire department says the two civilians were taken to the hospital in stable condition and that the hurt firefighter's injuries are minor.
Authorities say firefighters got the blaze under control and the cause of the fire is under investigation. They say the incident has left about 13 people displaced.
