WASHINGTON (7News) — In the District, D.C. Fire and EMS is celebrating EMS week by bringing life-saving training to the community.
On Thursday, D.C. Fire officials offered free CPR certification at the Patricia R. Harris Educational Center in Southeast, D.C. They also taught some high school students hands-on CPR and gave a tour of their EMS lab that's used for training.

D.C. Fire and EMS conduct 20 weeks of training for its members at the Harris Educational Center. They teach different safety tasks like, how to administer Narcan.
7News' D.C. Bureau Chief Sam Ford toured the fire department's immersive room. The room has simulated ambulance interiors --- all of this was inside the department's section of the Patricia R. Harris Educational Center.
EMS Emergency Medical Services week continues through May 27.
