D.C. area under risk for severe storms and damaging winds
WASHINGTON (WJLA) —
The D.C. area is facing a potential risk for severe storms and damaging winds on Tuesday.
Damaging winds could pose the biggest threat in the area Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center (NWSSPC).
Additionally, the National Weather Service (NWS) has extended a coastal flood advisory until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the NWS, a coastal flood advisory means that winds and tides can combine to create flooding in areas along a shoreline.
The flooding may impact portions of Ohio Drive, the Hains Point Loop Road near the Tidal Basin, and the Georgetown waterfront.
