Multiple CSX train cars have derailed and fallen into the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, according to Washington County Fire Dispatch.
As a result of the incident, the footbridge across the Potomac River is closed indefinitely. All train cars were empty and there were no hazardous materials involved.
No injuries have been reported at this time. The incident happened around 2:45 a.m. on December 21 on a bridge at Harpers Ferry and Rt. 340 in West Virginia.
CSX is investigating into the cause of the incident.
