SILVER SPRING, Md. (7News) — Parents with Protect Their Future rallied outside the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland on Monday. The parents demanded an urgent review of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for their children.
The vaccine company submitted its request for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to authorize its vaccine for children ages 6 months to 6 years old. Right now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends children 5 and older get vaccinated.

Moderna is expected to complete its data submission for COVID vaccines for young children on Monday. Protect Their Future wants the FDA to start an immediate review of it without delay.
The group has filed a citizen petition demanding that the FDA "immediately and expeditiously review any application received for Emergency Use Authorization for a COVID-19 vaccine for children under 5 without delay."

Hundreds of studded animals were displayed at the rally to symbolize each child under five who has died of COVID, along with posters and signs that urge the FDA to act quickly.
Parents impacted by their young children not being able to get the vaccine spoke at the noon rally.
