WASHINGTON (7News) — A D.C. native who trains two players currently in the NBA Finals is making basketball history.
Chris Matthews, also known as “Lethal Shooter" on social media, is a skills trainer for Boston Celtics forwards Grant Williams and Daniel Theis. He also trains Wizards star Kentavius Caldwell-Pope.
Matthews just became the first ever trainer to come out with a Jordan Brand PE or “player exclusive” shoe. You’re looking at the “Stay Locked In’s” which has always been his M.O.

"There were so many times I wanted to give up, but I didn't give up," he said.
7News' Robert Burton reached out to Matthews to see what the inspiration was for the shoe design -- And of course, it’s a representation of coming up in the District.
“We got the flower; we got the concrete with the 'locked-in' logo. The concrete is a representation of growing up in Washington, D.C. because Washington, D.C. is not easy. It’s a tough place to grow up in. You know and I’m that flower that grew out of the concrete because I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for Washington, D.C.’s grit. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for Washington, D.C.’s toughness," he said.
If you’re wondering how you can get a pair, right now, it’s only released to friends and family.
