Capitals Devante Smith-Pelly visits DC students who wrote inspiring letters to team
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Christmas wishes came true for students at a Northeast Washington elementary school. A creative writing assignment inspired new goals and showed students the power of writing.
Washington Capitals forward Devante Smith-Pelly visited the students who wrote the letters during a coat giveaway on Wednesday.
Pelly told ABC7 he came to the school because he sees some of himself in the students.
Teacher Alejandro Diasgranados had his students write letters to Pelly and the Caps team.
ABC7's Michelle Marsh has more on this story in the above video.
