PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (ABC7) — After racist graffiti was discovered on a Maryland high school field, a sign of unity has been released along with a statement by a U.S. Congressman.
Calvert High School discovered the racist graffiti which was written in black on its high school field over the weekend.
Maryland Congressman Steny H. Hoyer responded to the graffiti with the following statement:
The racist graffiti painted on the Calvert High School football field over the weekend is disgusting and abhorrent. This act of hate and bigotry in our community is horrific, and cannot be condemned strongly enough. I urge local law enforcement to bring those responsible for this heinous act to justice. Hate has no place in Southern Maryland.
The high school also released a photo along with a sign of unity following the sign of hate.
A large sign made of t-shirts in the school colors spelled out "No Hate Here," followed by a heart encircling the mascot with a sword.
