Burned body found in trash can in Northeast D.C.

WASHINGTON (WJLA) - A burned body was found in trash can in Northeast D.C. early Tuesday morning.

D.C. Fire responded to a call for a fire in an alley in the 1200 block of Holbrook Terrace in Northeast around 5:30 a.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire and discovered the body of what appears to be an adult inside a trash can.

The gender of the victim is unknown as is the motive for the crime.

“It’s unusual. It’s been extremely quiet here,” Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier tells ABC 7.

Metropolitan Police officers remain on scene.
