Eight horses died in a barn fire Saturday in Frederick County, Maryland.

The barn was a total loss, Frederick County fire officials said, and the blaze took 25 firefighters two hours to extinguish.

The call for the fire came around 4:30 p.m. By the time units responded to the scene on Bessie Clemson Road in Union Bridge, most of the barn was on fire, and the roof had partially collapsed.

The fire marshal was on the scene investigating the cause of the fire.
