Lucky Dog Animal Rescue in Arlington is currently looking for people to foster dogs and cats.
The rescue is currently seeing an increase in animals looking for foster or forever homes because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lucky Dog is a volunteer-powered and foster-based rescue without a physical facility. All of the animals Lucky Dog Animal Rescue saves from a shelter need to live in a foster home until they are adopted.
Colleen Bernhard, Director of Operations at Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, said shelters across the nation are struggling to continue their operations and working with reduced staff. The rescue also said it expects to see an increase in the number of animals surrendered to its shelter partners in the coming weeks.
Bernhard said the rescue has changed the way they match people with animals to practice social distancing.
They canceled all adoption events and are conducting adoption and foster screenings and meet-and-greets virtually.
All of the animals are also being promoted on social media and on the Lucky Dog Animal Rescue website.
Good news: Bernhard said there has been a lot of interest since many people are working from home and social distancing!
