ALEXANDRIA, Va. (7News) — A 22-year-old man from Centreville was arrested Thursday for an assault that occurred in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County.
Fairfax County police said they responded to an attempted child abduction on Wednesday at 4:23 p.m. in the 5000 block of Caryn Court near Little River Turnpike and Lincoln Avenue.
According to the department, Kevin Moran-Perez approached a group of kids, displayed a knife and grabbed a child by the hand. The child managed to break free and Moran-Perez ran away, police said.

The child was not injured, police said.
7News spoke with nearby residents, some of whom said safety is a concern.
"I will talk to the management as well about ramping up security and putting cameras up," said Asad Khan. "Cause this is not a joke this is serious. You can’t go out with your kids and take a walk without someone pulling a knife on you? It’s pretty scary, so we have to see what steps management is going to take.
Officers found Moran-Perez nearby, and he was arrested. He was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with assault and possession of a schedule I or II drug.
Moran-Perez was held on no bond.
