Air Force One replica transported on Potomac River to go on exhibit at National Harbor


A full-sized Air Force One replica arrived Monday morning at National Harbor after it was transported on a barge on the Potomac River.

The plane, an actual Boeing 747, will be part of an exhibit called the Air Force One Experience.

The plane was later removed from the barge and onto land.

The exhibit will open Oct. 19 and stay open through the holiday season at 701 National Harbor Boulevard, located by the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. Visitors of it will get to experience a 90-minute learning experience, including a chance to feel what it’s like to be president on Air Force One.

The Children’s Democracy Project – an initiative developed to educate children on the importance of democracy around the world – selected National Harbor as the venue for the replica plane. It was placed on the barge in Rhode Island, where it was built and developed.
