When Tony Nguyen opened his jewelry store on Friday, it was business as usual.

He was being friendly to people he believed were customers.

“They asked me to get 24k from that showcase,” said Nguyen. “Two come in first and then another and then another two come in and block my view.”

Once the party of seven got his attention, they had other plans up their sleeves.

When Nguyen wasn’t looking, one woman snuck away.

“She come down here like she going to the restroom and then she crawled down here,” said Nguyen.

She then found Nguyen’s unlocked safe, where she uses a bag to grab jewelry and cash.

It appears she hid the goods underneath her long skirt.

“Gold, bangles, bracelets,” said Nguyen.

“How much money do you think you lost?” asked ABC7’s Anna-Lysa Gayle.

“I think like $200K,” said Nguyen.

Afterwards, the woman then returns to the main part of the store; where she sat and pretended nothing happened.

“I’m so shocked, after two days I found out,” said Nguyen.

Nguyen says back in February someone also stole roughly $70,000 of jewelry in a similar manner, from behind the counter while he was distracted.

He’s offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Falls Church police say the case is similar to other cases in California and Pennsylvania.

Detectives have been in contact with investigators in those jurisdictions.
