CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (ABC7) — Authorities say a 7-year-old girl has life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a truck while leaving the school bus in Charles County Tuesday.
The Charles County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened in the 5700 block of Oliver Shop Road in Bryantown around 3:45 p.m. Officials said paramedics treated the girl and then had her medevaced to Children's National Hospital. The fire department also said a 53-year-old was hospitalized due to a panic attack.
School officials said the bus was coming from T.C. Martin Elementary School and may have also had students from a private school on board.
Authorities said the driver stayed at the scene and the crash remains under investigation.
Oliver Shop Road was closed between Leonardtown Road and Jenkins Farm Road as emergency crews responded.
