GREAT FALLS, Va. (ABC7) — A single-vehicle accident in Great Falls, Virginia Saturday night claimed the lives of two young adults and left a teenager with life-threatening injuries.
It happened around 7 p.m. in the 10500 block of Beach Mill Road, a rural, wooded area a little more than a mile south of the Potomac River. The area is known for its narrow, windy roads.
Police have identified the two adults as Benjamin Wenger, 26, of Annandale and Abigail Ryan, 23, of Great Falls. The teenager is a 15-year-old girl.
ABC7 was told on scene that all three were in the same vehicle, which left the road and crashed into a tree. Police say that Wenger was the driver.
Police say their car went off Beach Mill Road then crossed back and struck the tree.
Wenger and Ryan were pronounced dead at the scene while the girl was taken to the hospital, according to authorities.
The reason why the vehicle left the road was still officially under investigation by Sunday evening.
Police shut down a portion of Beach Mill Road surrounding the accident for hours.
