One person is dead after a crash involving two cars closed down part of Interstate 66 in Oakton Thursday morning.

Virginia State Police confirmed the fatality, while the Virginia Department of Transportation said the crash temporarily closed down all lanes going west on I-66 near Jermantown.

ABC7's John Gonzalez said sources told him a person was ejected from one of the cars during the crash.

Police said they responded to the scene just east of Exit 57 around 3:51 a.m.

Police said it was two sedans that crashed. All four lanes going west on I-66 were shutdown but all are now open. Traffic was diverted to Route 123.
