FAIRFAX CO., Va. (ABC7) — Fire crews lined the street in front of the Woodlawn Garden Apartments in Fairfax County on Saturday night.
Crews say 12 units were affected and two were destroyed. They also say 67 residents were displaced.
“We’ve got Red Cross here assisting the displaced occupants and we are working with building management to temporarily relocate them,” said Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief, Thomas Arnold.
“I saw a lot of fire departments and the police and a lot of sirens, so it was scary,” said Solomon Mensah, who lives in the building behind where it happened.
Mensah says he was returning home from work when he saw what happened.
“When I saw the lights, I knew that something was going on,” Mensah said.
Crews say it took about 14 minutes to put out the flames. At this time, there is no word on what caused the fire. One person suffered non-life threatening injuries.
