Mental health teletherapy services will be at no cost to Fairfax County Public School families beginning April 10, FCPS said in a news release.

FCPS said they have partnered with Hazel Health to help eliminate barriers to quality mental health care services for all high school students. The free therapy sessions with Hazel Health are a "safe space" for students, along with being completely confidential and HIPAA compliant, FCPS said.

Hazel Health therapists can help children with: Mood/behavior changes, motivation, grief/loss, anxiety, worry, fears, social skills, bullying, peer and family relationships, and academic stress.

By opting into Hazel Health, students will be able to schedule virtual mental health services without the involvement of FCPS staff. For youth under the age of 18, FCPS said consent from a parent or guardian is required to access the services. According to FCPS, school counselors, social workers, or psychologists will be able to submit a referral for teletherapy services on a parent's behalf.
