Nearly four dozen cars broken into or damaged in Northwest D.C. community
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Small fragments of glass are scattered throughout the streets of one Northwest Washington community Friday after nearly four dozen cars were broken into or damaged in the last 48 hours.
“As soon as I looked at my car, I saw it and then I saw everybody on the street was cleaning up glass and vacuuming their cars out,” Pete Ford said.
Said Jasline Petersen, “It’s just like, what’s going to happen next? It’s so close to home."
Surveillance video captured in the 1400 block of Geranium Street, shows a man breaking a car window and then crawling inside. Neighbors say at least 16 cars were hit on the street.
“Twenty-five percent of the residents have dogs, but none of the dogs barked," Buell said. "Nobody heard anything and I don’t know. I heard they wrapped their tool in something, so it didn’t make any noise."
