UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (ABC7) — After two men were shot and killed in Bladensburg in January, police have been searching for a motive and a suspect.
On Thursday, the investigation was concluded after revealing that the two men shot each other in an apparent drug deal gone bad, according to a statement from Prince George’s County Police.
On January 30, shortly after 5 p.m., Bladensburg Police and Prince George’s County Police responded to a call in the 5000 block of 57th Avenue.
They found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a hospital and died a short time later.
Police say the men met for an illegal drug deal. While in a car, an argument broke out and both men pulled guns and shot each other.
The two men were identified as 23-year-old Jonathan Contreras of Bowie and 24-year-old Varney Batener Jr. of Hyattsville.
