Leesburg Police released a sketch of a man wanted for an attempted attack of a runner Thursday morning on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in Leesburg, Virginia. This latest incident comes a day after a woman was assaulted by two men on the W&OD trail in Sterling.

Police describe him as a black man in his late 40s to early 50s, nearly 6 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing roughly 220 pounds. According to police, he has a medium complexion and was wearing all black at the time of the attempted attack.

The woman in the attempted assault is a deputy with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, who was off-duty when she was running, according to Leesburg Police.

Police say she was not injured and there was no physical contact between her or the man, according to police.

Police say the woman was running along the W&OD trail when the man approached her with "what appeared to be a box cutter." She escaped and the man ran away from the scene.

The incident occurred on the trail between Valley View Avenue and South King Street.

On Wednesday, police say a woman in her 30s reported an attempted sexual assault by two men along the trail.

According to the woman, she was walking on the trail when two men came out of a wooded area and began pulling her and attacking her. The woman believes the men wanted to sexually assault her, but a cyclist came along and they escaped.
