Maryland's daily coronavirus death toll drops to its lowest point in more than 5 months

Maryland officials reported just one coronavirus-related death Monday, the first time that fewer than two deaths has been reported in a single day since March 30.

The number of deaths per week has fallen steeply since the deadliest period of the pandemic for Maryland thus far, April 25 through May 1. That week saw 375 deaths, and the month of April .

So far in September, Maryland has averaged six deaths per day. The daily average in August was eight.
