Almost every holiday, I speak to you about the importance of civil discourse in our country, with the bottom line being that our country desperately needs to mend its divides.
Although we should always be proud to be Americans living in this beautiful country, this Fourth of July let’s take stock of how amazing it is to be an American, to live in a country where we are free.
Let’s remember that most of us want the same thing for our country: to thrive economically, to treat one another with respect, to take care of our loved ones, and to do all we can to help the United States of America succeed.
Many people simply disagree on how we get there. These disagreements do not transcend our shared mission. They should not distract us but allow us to refine our path and fill us with the fire and determination to crush all obstacles that stand between us and a fully successful nation.
We are in the midst of a heated election that will determine the future of our country. As you spend time with your friends and family this holiday, I encourage you to participate in healthy, respectful debate.
And remember to continue living your American dream, whatever it may be.
Here’s the bottom line: Happy Birthday, America. May you continue to be a beacon of hope and the leader of the free world for centuries to come.
